Hello! My name is Ed Hess-Johnston and thank you for taking the time to look at my work. For any commissions, comments, or compliments please message me here!
My work explores the relationship between color, landscapes, and geometric shapes, intertwining moments of realism and abstraction to transport the viewer into a different perspective. I have my B.A. in Art Practice from UC Berkeley, where I began my journey exploring the juxtaposition of abstract shapes and the built environment. I believe that life should be more colorful–whether in the art we choose to create, the way we dress, or the way we see the world. Color allows for a different type of expression, containing and evoking emotions we can’t always put into words. My work highlights how I see the world through color, extrapolating memories, combining harsh angular shapes, to break apart the literal into the symbolic.
